Dr Serge Cosnier received his Ph.D in Organic Chemistry from Toulouse University (1982),Doctorates in Electrochemistry from Université Grenoble, and was an Alexander von Humbold postdoctoral fellow in Munich University. His activity focuses on biosensors, biofuel cells, electrogenerated polymers and electrochemistry, and has authored 364 publications (citation 14 200; h-index 62), 3 books and 18 book chapters.

Dr Cosnier is currently member of the European Academy of Sciences, Research Director at CNRS, head of the Department of Molecular Chemistry, Scientific Director of the Institute Carnot POLYNAT, and Coordinator of International Research Network GDRI, Member of the Council of the Bioelectrochemical Society, Specialty Chief Editor of Frontiers in Analytical Chemistry, Fellow of the International Society of Electrochemistry. He was nominated for the European Inventor Award 2014, and received Katsumi Niki Prize for Bioelectrochemistry from ISE in 2009, an Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2015, and the 2016 China-France Chemistry Award from the Chinese Chemical Society and the Chemical Society of France.
